Dateline: August 18, 2010.
The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that David Ameen, FACHE, MS, has agreed to join Logansport Memorial Hospital as President and CEO. Official action will be taken by the Board of Trustees at the August 23, 2010, board meeting.
“David’s knowledge of free standing hospitals, financial management, strategic planning, quality, physician relations and the insurance industry is a great fit for us at this time,” said Todd Weinstein, MD, Chairman of the Logansport Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees. “The Board was very impressed by David’s experience as a hospital administrator, and we look forward to the benefit of his leadership for years to come. The search process was very thorough, and there were many talented candidates. Alan Biggs, Interim President, and the entire Executive Leadership team did a great job during this interim period.”
Alan Biggs commented, “I appreciate this time as Interim CEO and all the support and efforts of the executive team, employees, and medical staff. I look forward to returning to my role as Chief Operating Officer in mid-October and working with our new CEO to focus my efforts on continuing to improve every aspect of Logansport Memorial Hospital’s operations.”
Ameen has served as the Executive Director of Kaiser Permanente, Bakersfield, California, since 2008. Prior to that, he was President and CEO of St. Charles Mercy Hospital in Oregon, Ohio. “I am looking forward to joining Logansport Memorial Hospital and am excited by this opportunity to partner with hospital employees, leadership and medical staff to continue providing excellent care for patients and the community,” Ameen commented.
David Ameen holds an MS in Health Services Administration and a BS in Pharmacy from the University of Michigan. Ameen served on the Kern County Economic Development Corporation, East Bay Chamber of Commerce, Health Care Alliance of Sonoma County, Sonoma State University School of Business and the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce. During his career, he has also served as President and CEO of the Saint Joseph Health System of Greater Sonoma County in Santa Rosa, CA, Saint Mary’s Mercy Medical Center in Grand Rapids, MI, and Detroit Riverview Hospital.
David (a Michigan native) and his wife Joyce (born in southern Indiana) will be moving to Cass County this fall. They have three children and two grandchildren who reside in Indiana.
