Logansport Memorial Hospital has been recognized as a finalist for the 2009 Healthiest Employers of Indiana, an awards program presented by the Indianapolis Business Journal and Mavum Consulting.  Fifteen employers from Indiana were honored as finalists of the inaugural awards program held on September 14 in Indianapolis. Five winners were selected in each category, grouped by size and number of full-time Indiana employees.

Healthiest Employers is an innovative awards program that recognizes organizations that proactively shape the health of their employees. These companies have made a commitment to impact the health of their workplace … and their bottom line. The winning employers ranged in size from 2-99 employees, up to 5000+ employees.

Logansport Memorial Hospital was among the 15 honored companies because of its innovative programs to affect the health and wellness of its employees. “Beginning in 1998, Memorial developed a health management program, offering activities and incentives for employees to make good health choices,” explained Memorial’s CEO Brian Shockney. “The wellness plan for each year includes disease specific education and activities, as well as exercise incentives and fun events to encourage employees to focus on a healthy lifestyle. The results have been significant, resulting in improvement in several aggregate bench marks and reduction in healthcare claims for Memorial’s employees.”

Because of the success of its program, Logansport Memorial Hospital joined with SIHO Insurance Services and Consolidated Union to offer an employee health management program called CentricHRM to employers across the U.S. The Centric HRM program improve the quality of life for the employee the company and the community.
