Women who undergo routine mammograms at Logansport Memorial Hospital now have the latest diagnostic technology available to them. Memorial’s Breast Center features the state-of-the-art system, Selenia digital mammography from Hologic. "I can't stress enough how pleased we are to have digital mammography," related Mike Etter, Director of Medical Imaging. "It is a significant advance in the way we look at mammograms and a welcome addition to our new Breast Center." An open house at the Breast Center will be held December 6, 1 - 3 p.m.
Memorial Hospital offers this advanced technology in the Breast Center, a newly remodeled and expanded space dedicated to breast cancer detection. The Center is the home to an array of imaging technology to help detect breast cancer in its earliest phase.
Digital mammography is different from conventional mammography in how the image of the breast is acquired and viewed. The radiologist reviews electronic images of the breast using special high-resolution monitors. The physician can adjust the brightness, change contrast, and zoom in for close ups of specific areas of interest.
By offering women the latest innovations in high tech digital imaging and breast cancer detection, Logansport Memorial Hospital hopes to increase the number of area women who follow recommendations for regular screenings.
