The Trustees of Logansport Memorial welcomed the appointment of Kyle Rans and the reappointment of Dr. Todd Weinstein. Healthcare reform continues to earn serious attention as the House and Senate work to reconcile their bills by ironing out the differences. Memorial Hospital supports the American Hospital Association in advocating healthcare reform which includes the following:

• Improve coverage of Americans
• Medicaid expansion that does not cost states more money
• No public option is acceptable
• Hospital payment updates must continue with inflation
• Hospitals should not be financially harmed by readmissions that are beyond their control
• Do not create an Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) that would make decisions on coverage
• Do not impose a medical device tax on providers
• Do not cut Medicare and Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospital payments to hospitals until each state has 96% coverage levels of its citizens
• Allow hospitals to become Accountable Care Organizations which would be responsible for distributing the one-payment system
• Ensure rural hospitals are not harmed financially as they have been with the last 10 years of changes
