Logansport Memorial Hospital has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in digital mammography as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

"The mammography department at Memorial Hospital has been accredited by the American College of Radiology, ACR, for more than 20 years," said Mike Etter, Director Medical Imaging. "The ACR accreditation is not easily achieved and requires the combination of high quality images, extensive staff training, impeccable record keeping and oversight by skilled radiologists. The recent ACR accreditation of our new digital mammography demonstrates Memorial Hospitals’ commitment to providing the most advanced and highest quality of mammography services available to the people we serve."

The ACR awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of the practice. Evaluations are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment.

The ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 radiologists, oncologists and physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging, radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
