Dr.
Short offers new sinus treatment |
|

Dr. David Short |
ENT David Short MD is now performing balloon
sinuplasty at Memorial Hospital. The new technique utilizes
a small, flexible, sinus balloon that is placed into the
nose to reach the sinuses. The balloon is gradually inflated
to gently restructure the previously blocked sinus opening,
which helps to restore normal sinus drainage and function.
“This is an easier way to clear sinus disease,” explains Dr.
Short. “It dilates and opens up the natural sinus port the
way God intended it to work. It usually takes a few minutes,
and there is minimal discomfort and drainage. This is the
cutting edge of technology, and we have it at Memorial
Hospital!” |
|
A study of 1,036 patients at multiple
institutions reported that sinus symptoms improved in 96% of
patients at an average follow-up period of 10 months.
Another study of 109 patients at multiple institutions
reported that 98% of sinuses opened with Balloon
Sinuplasty™ technology remained open at 6 months
following the surgery, and these patients reported a
significant
improvement in their quality of life. |
