Memorial Hospital partners with St.Vincent Orthopedics

“Memorial Hospital has partnered with St. Vincent Orthopedics to bring quality surgeons from Indianapolis to Logansport for outpatient surgery and follow-up care,” announced Brian Shockney, President and CEO. “With the extreme decline in general orthopedic physicians and the specialization of the surgical field, this partnership allows Memorial Hospital to continue to provide orthopedic surgery in Logansport. We have seen many of our Cass County residents leave the community over the past several years for orthopedic care. In addition, the new quality and performance measures of the state and federal government, along with insurance companies will require more complicated inpatient orthopedic care to be performed in the large tertiary facilities. These factors have forced Memorial to make this change, and we are extremely pleased to offer this St. Vincent Orthopedics connection for Cass County residents.”  

James Bicos MD and Michael Kaveney MD now see patients in Logansport. Both surgeons treat patients for all varieties of general orthopedic problems, both surgical and non-surgical. Dr. Bicos brings his expertise in sports medicine, shoulder and knee injuries and cartilage restoration. Dr. Kaveney specializes in sports medicine and knee injuries.

St. Vincent Orthopedics will be responsible for outpatient and emergency call coverage. If Dr. Bicos or Dr. Kaveney are not at Memorial Hospital when an orthopedic emergency occurs, they will coordinate care with the physician making the referral. Most outpatients will be treated at Memorial Hospital. Most inpatient care will occur at a St. Vincent hospital.
