At Logansport Memorial Hospital, the Family Birth Center is dedicated to providing optimal prenatal care. This helps you and your family plan and prepare for childbirth and the care of your baby. We serve Cass County and the surrounding communities by offering high quality, cost-effective maternal and neonatal services in a supportive, compassionate and family-centered environment. The Family Birth Center has five labor, delivery and recovery (LDR) rooms, a Cesarean Section suite, a Level II Nursery and ten private, postpartum suites.

All patient rooms have wireless Internet access and are provided many complimentary amenities:

  • After their baby’s arrival, new parents will receive a keepsake book called "On the Night You Were Born." FBC staff will print baby's footprints inside the book to help you remember the most important part of this special day.
  • New mothers receive a follow-up phone call from one of the obstetric nurses after returning home. The nurse will answer any questions regarding your care or the care of your baby.
  • Lactation specialists are available to provide information and assistance to help you and your newborn during your hospital stay. Families may continue to receive breastfeeding support after returning home from the hospital.
  • New parents receive gift packs containing many items to help care for their new baby and local merchant coupons.

Level II Special Care Nursery

While hard to think about, sometimes a newborn has a difficult start in life. When an infant needs help breathing or getting nourishment, our Level II Special Care Nursery is there to help.

Babies needing critical care may spend time in our Level II NICU where they can be continuously monitored. Our specially trained nurses and pediatricians can provide breathing support, IV drips, feeding tubes and other medical intervention need to assist infants experiencing these difficulties.

Rest assured, if your baby does need to be placed in Logansport Memorial’s Level II Nursery, he or she will receive the care they need. We also support your decision to breastfeed and our lactation specialist will assist you with questions and concerns. Storage areas and supplies are available if you need to pump and store milk during your baby’s stay. A complimentary room will also be provided for you during your baby’s stay.

Our goal is to make you and your family as comfortable as possible during this special time. Learn more about what to expect during your hospital stay.
