An interdisciplinary approach
Pain can feel like a dull ache to a sharp stab, ranging from mild to severe. It may be felt in one area of the body, or it can be in multiple areas. Sometimes, pain can feel like it is coming from one area of the body but is the result of an injury or inflammation in another part of the body, known as referred pain.
Because no two people experience pain in the same ways, a one-size-fits-all treatment plan does not work effectively for pain management. Your provider’s approach to treating your pain may depend on the type of pain, location, and any other health conditions you may experience. Your provider may want to try some lifestyle changes before moving to procedures. Some pain can be relieved by eating a healthy diet, maintaining a healthy weight, reducing stress, and getting proper sleep. In addition, physical therapy and exercise can help treat chronic pain by increasing range of motion, decreasing inflammation, and boosting your mood and emotional well-being.
Other minimally invasive treatments may include but are not limited to
- Epidural Steroid injections
- Spinal cord stimulation
- Joint injections
- Radiofrequency ablations
- Kyphoplasty
- Steroid injections (any area)
- Peripheral nerve stimulation
- Nerve blocks
- Minimally invasive lumbar decompression (MILD)
- Medications
Prescription pain relievers can be an effective method of treatment for chronic pain, but they can also cause unwanted consequences, such as addiction. At the Logansport Memorial Pain Management Center, our providers prescribe medications at their discretion.
