Logansport Memorial Hospital celebrates National Nurses Week

Every year, National Nurses Week focuses attention on the diverse ways America’s 3.1 million registered nurses work to save lives and to improve the health of millions of individuals. This year, the American Nurses Association has chosen “Nurses: Advocating, Leading, Caring” as the 2012 theme. Annually, National Nurses Week begins on May 6, marked as RN Recognition Day, and ends on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of nursing as a modern profession.

During this week, the registered nurses of Logansport Memorial Hospital are being honored for the dedication they give 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days per year. These professionals continuously give of themselves to provide exceptional care for the patients at the hospital.

“I would like to thank all of our nurses who work so tirelessly to make sure our patients are cared for and for providing that care with such compassion,” comments Jeanette Huntoon, Chief Executive Nurse at Logansport Memorial Hospital. “When you come to the hospital as a patient, you are treated as if you are a member of our family.”

Traditionally, National Nurses Week is devoted to highlighting the ways in which registered nurses, who comprise the largest healthcare profession, are working to improve healthcare. From bedside nursing in hospitals to the halls of research institutions, state legislatures, and Congress, the depth and breadth of the nursing profession is meeting the expanding healthcare needs of American society. We are proud to have so many accomplished and caring registered nurses as part of our staff at Logansport Memorial Hospital.
