Patient Testimonial – Cheryl Goble

Healing doesn’t always follow a straight path—and for patients facing chronic or non-healing wounds, the journey can be long, emotional, and uncertain. At Logansport Memorial Hospital, our Wound Care team is committed to walking alongside patients during every stage of that journey, offering advanced treatment options with a personal touch.

Cheryl Goble’s story is a moving example of how the right care, delivered at the right time, can make all the difference. After months of pain, multiple surgeries, and no resolution, Cheryl found hope—and healing—through the dedicated team at LMH Wound Care.

Cheryl says…

“I had an umbilical hernia surgery (TAR) repair at St. Franciscan Hospital in Lafayette on March 13, 2023. Following the surgery, I developed an infection and had to have the area surgically opened. From that point forward (April 2023), I have had 6 surgical debridements, packing of the wound and a wound vac through St. Franciscan with no resolution. Dr. Eben True (my surgeon) provided excellent care. Due to the wound not healing, he had recommended abdominal reconstructive surgery due to the location of the open wound and the formation of extensive scar tissue. I told him I would have to pray about that decision.

Joyce Heater, a life-long friend, has been through this whole journey with me. She knew I didn’t want another surgery. She contacted her daughter-in-law, Erica Heater, who is a physical therapist at LMH. Erica immediately recommended (and assisted in setting up) a consultation with Monica Davis, NP at LMH Wound Care.

An answer to prayers – I scheduled an appointment with Monica and following a CT scan and consult with Dr.True, he performed a debridement and placed a wound vac. This surgery occurred on September 3, 2024. I received excellent care with Monica and the Wound Care team. The LMH Wound Care team showed kindness, professionalism, consistency in care and answered all of my questions.

The best news is that as of January 2, 2025, my wound is closed and healed! I consider my experience as an answer to many, many prayers. In addition to the many people and professionals I have shared this news with, I felt it necessary to share the positive experience with you. Thank you for the excellent experience at LMH!”

Cheryl’s healing is more than just a medical success—it’s a story of faith, friendship, and finding the right team to trust. With support from her close circle and compassionate, skilled care from Monica Davis, NP, and the LMH Wound Care team, Cheryl’s long-standing wound finally closed after nearly a year of setbacks.

At Logansport Memorial Hospital, we believe that every patient deserves not just treatment, but hope. Cheryl’s outcome is a reminder of what’s possible when personalized care meets expertise and heart. We’re honored to have played a part in her healing—and we’re here for others on that same journey, every step of the way.
